My name is Jermale Kling, and I am a person in long-term recovery. I work as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with a Forensic Endorsement at Twin Cities Recovery Project, Inc., where I support individuals affected by substance use and the criminal justice system. My personal experience with addiction and navigating the criminal justice system allows me to guide and mentor others who are going through similar challenges. I offer peer mentoring, counseling, and advocacy to help people on their recovery journeys.
As the Re-Entry Coordinator, I focus on helping individuals successfully reintegrate into society after incarceration. This includes assisting withhousing, employment, and accessing community resources to ensure long-term success. I work closely with clients to create personalized plans that address their specific needs and goals.
In addition to my direct work with clients, I also apply my background in IT to improve organizational efficiency at Twin Cities Recovery Project. This helps us provide better services to the people we serve and streamline our operations.
Beyond my work at Twin Cities Recovery Project, I’m also a member of the Pretrial Justice Council. In this role, I advocate for community involvement in shaping policies around pretrial justice. My lived experience in the criminal justice system gives me a unique perspective, which I bring to efforts aimed at reforming the pretrial process and ensuring fairness for all.
My work is driven by my commitment to supporting individuals impacted by the criminal justice system, both through direct service and by working towards systemic change for a more just and equitable society.
