Tina Nelson has a bachelor’s degree in journalism & screen study from the University of Michigan. Her degree has taken her to many monumental opportunities. Her most recent work can be seen every Sunday morning on WMYD TV 20 Detroit on a television show called Ask the Messengers TV Show. She is the writer, editor, and producer of this television show that deals with substance abuse and recovery resources. This television show features organizations that help those who are in a constant battle with drug and alcohol addictions as well as giving hope and encouragement to those who have found their way out of their addictive past.
Her journalism degree has seen many memorable moments including being able to photograph President Barack Obama at the 2013 Presidential Inauguration and being the photographer for a Global Brigade to Honduras; where university medical students from all over the county provided free medical care to thousands of Hondurans who could not afford healthcare on their own.
Before Ask the Messengers, Tina aka “T. Carlita,” has produced and hosted her own internet music program called In My House Techno Music Show, which is now in it is sixth year. Her show features interviews and new releases from electronic DJ’s and music producers all over the world, with viewers from over 70 countries. Within the first year of broadcasting, she was invited to broadcast her show from France and Germany.
Aside from her video and editing life, she is a known, “Difference Maker” who takes her community service serious and is a firm believer that action speak louder than words.
She is an active member of leading organizations i.e. National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), American Association of University Women. She is regularly active in her church home (United Christian Church-Detroit) and the neighborhood of which she lives.
