Elizabeth Burden, MS; Senior Advisor National Council for Mental Wellbeing

Ms. Burden is a Senior Advisor with the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.  In this capacity she works to advance substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery support services, providing technical assistance and training to a wide range of organizations and participants.

Ms. Burden has extensive experience in providing technical assistance to nonprofits on translating knowledge to action in the areas of organizational development and transformation, community development, program planning and development. She has facilitated participatory processes and provided trainings for grantees of several federal agencies and programs including the SAMHSA Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, the SAMHSA Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, the US Health Resources and Services Administration, US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Prior to joining the National Council, Ms. Burden was a Senior Specialist with Altarum, providing support for grantees of the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. Her area of focus was behavioral health, with an emphasis on peer recovery support services.  Before that, Ms. Burden was the lead staff of the Council on Accreditation of Peer Recovery Support Services during its start-up year.
